Solarwatt, a German manufacturer of solar panels and batteries, said this week that it plans to stop production of battery storage systems at its plant in Dresden, Germany, at the end of the year.
“For economic reasons, continued activities in Germany after 2024 are unfortunately no longer possible in the near future,” said Solarwatt CEO Detlef Neuhaus.
About 170 of the 750 employees will be affected by the closure of module and battery production in Germany.
The company said it will move battery and panel production entirely to Asia in the future.
“We are currently in the process of qualifying a manufacturing partner for our next generation products,” said Neuhaus.
Solarwatt said it wants to focus on complete solutions and energy management in the future.
