Sol -systems And Google Invest $ 1.6 million in the next two years to bring energy efficiency to communities in North and South Carolina. This investment builds on the current cooperation of the companies, announced for the first time in 2023, which integrates investments in renewable energy with local impact initiatives in areas with limited access to renewable energy.
With this extensive investment, SOL Systems and Google capital will continue to use communities through an innovative investment framework that is designed to link the development of solar energy to strategic community support. The initiative helps to promote energy solutions and strengthen local economies and expanding resources for social organizations.
An important part of this collaboration is direct investments in trusted, community organizations that offer essential services and programs. Financing supports energy -efficiency and homeupgrade -initiatives through partnerships with Roanoke Electric Cooperative In North Carolina, Santee Electric Cooperative And Aiken Electric Cooperative in South Carolina, and the Sustainability Institute of South Carolina.
“SOL Systems strives to ensure that investments in clean energy provide permanent benefits for communities,” said Adaora ifbigh, senior director of Community Impact at Sol Systems. “Thanks to our continuous partnership with Google and our dedicated local partners, we strengthen programs that lower energy costs and improve housing conditions for families who need this most.”
Upgrades for energy efficiency offer significant cost savings, but many households with a low income are not eligible for weather heterization programs due to already existing home conditions, such as leaking roofs, defective wiring and fungus. This financing helps to bridge the gap by tackling these critical repairs, so that more families can participate in energy -saving initiatives.
“At Google we are committed to promoting carbon -free energy solutions that provide meaningful benefits for communities,” said Katie Otenweller, Southeast Lead, Energy Policy and Markets at Google. “Through our partnership with Sol Systems, we not only expand the access of solar energy, but we also support the essential work of local organizations that help reduce individual electricity accounts in North and South Carolina.”
This expansion reflects the continuous dedication of SOL Systems’ and Google to scalable solutions for renewable energy that contribute to economic and environmental programs in local communities. Local partners have recognized the benefits of this collaboration that has led to positive results for households participating in the community programs.
“These important, multi -year investments of SOL Systems and Google will expand the work that has already been life -changing for so many of our members of the community,” said Bryan Cordell, executive director of the Sustainability Institute of South Carolina. “It was heartwarming to experience the joy and hope that families have when their bills fall, or they finally receive house repairs they need for so long.”
As this initiative continues in 2025, local organizations remain the core of efforts to reduce energy tax and improve housing conditions. Sol Systems and Google strive to support their work, so that more households, especially those who can benefit most in need, benefit from the economy of renewable energy.
