Nevados, a developer of solar trackers that can adapt to uneven terrain, is taking orders for its new one TRACE solution for solar tracking. TRACE is the next generation of Nevados’ All Terrain Tracker – designed to operate on steep and undulating terrain with slopes up to 37%, capable of preserving native topsoil.
Through TRACE, Nevados updated the mechanical operation of the system, integrating software and controls with features such as 75° hail retention, further reducing project risk from wind, snow and hail. It features terrain-aware backtracking to reduce shadows and thus improve energy yield.
“With TRACE, we have taken our All Terrain Tracker, which is already the most capable and easiest to install on the market, and turned it into a more cohesive and fully featured product,” said Yezin Taha, CEO and Founder of Nevados.
Project risk mitigation features
- Bidirectional, automatic storage, to speed up the storage of wind and hail.
- 75° Hail Stow reduces the chance of maximum loss (PML) due to hail.
- Flood, rain and system protection protocols.
TRACE uses a backtracking rotation scheme that takes into account specific terrain profiles that can reduce the effects of backshading. This feature comes standard on every tracker. These rotation schedules can be spread across rows to increase yield, and the system can take diffused light into account.
TRACE uses Kinematics ST Drive, which does not require lubrication and is therefore maintenance-free
The total number of parts of the system has been reduced by 35% and comes with pre-assembled materials. The system can be installed with Milwaukee Tool’s Controlled Torque Impact Wrench. Nevados also provides an O&M Dashboard for system management and access to historical data for the system.
“As flat or gently sloping land becomes scarcer and more expensive, the solar industry needs more than ever solutions that can adapt to the world’s diverse terrains,” said Taha. “Our continued innovation is redefining the possibilities for solar energy development. We enable fast and efficient implementation in locations previously considered too complex or too expensive.”
Nevados is now taking orders for the TRACE All Terrain Tracker system, which will be delivered in the second quarter of 2025. It can be ordered as a fully qualified domestic content tracker for the US market, helping solar developers meet the requirements for additional tax credits created by the Inflation Reduction Act.
The TRACE system will be on display September 9-12 at Nevados’ RE+ booth D24705 in Hall D of the Anaheim Convention Center.
