The regulating authority of Greece for Energy, Waste and Water (Raaey) has published the results of the third auction in the country for independent storage systems for battery energy.
The 200 MW auction is the final phase of a program that is aimed at strengthening the development and operation of large -scale batteries for the benefit. The first program asked for 1 GW of battery capacity to be offered in three separate purchasing exercises of 400 MW, 300 MW and 300 MW. In December 2024, however, Greece has complained the third auction to 200 MW.
The first two auctions concerning projects that were installed everywhere in Greece, while the third auction included projects developed in former coal extraction regions.
