UK Battery Storage Platform Constantine Energy Storage (CES) has appointed two companies to optimize five of its battery activa in the UK.
Global Optimiser Habitat Energy will optimize three new transmission-connected battery energy systems (BESS). The three projects, Ocker Hill, near Birmingham, Whitegate, near Manchester, and Monk Fryston, near Leeds, are all 57 MW, 2.7 hours of endurance systems and are expected to be live in the summer of 2025.
Once operational, Habitat Energy will maximize the income performance of the BES’s in wholesalers in wholesale, supporting service markets and the Balancing Mechanism (BM), using the integrated, end-to-end Optimization Service. Habitat is a portfolio company from Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners. The agreement with CES brings the Habitat assets with assets under contract in the UK up to 1.2 GW.
CES commercial director Mike Ryan said Habitat Energy was involved early on for the three Bess projects.
Habitat’s British director Jon Doughty added that the company is “proud to be recognized by Constantine”, and also acknowledges the “significant complexity” that carries assets associated with transmission.
CES was launched by Investment Fund Constantine Group in 2021 and in 2022 Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCO) and railing together recorded a 94% interest. The company constructs and owns battery-assorts and has a first portfolio of more than 1.6 GWH in the Battery storage battery storage grid with 770 MWh in construction.
EDF has also scored a deal with CES and agrees to offer route-to-market and optimization services for two new battery battery activa of a total of 114 MW. Both locations, Capenhurst in Cheshire and Legacy in North Wales, each also lasted 57 MW capacity and 2.7 hours.
EDF will use his Powershift platform to maximize the income generation in support services, wholesalers and the BM. The collaboration is the first time that EDF has worked with CES.
Stuart Fenner, director of the commercial of the wholesale market services at EDF, said: “We are the first partners to be pleased to combine our market leading optimization expertise with Constantine’s progressive approach to energy storage. The extended duration of these assets will offer the grid crucial flexibility and our Powershift platform will ensure that they generate maximum value in all market conditions. “
EDF claims to be the largest zero carbon energy generator of Groot -Britain and a market leader in battery optimization services, with more than 2 GW battery activa that are under contract in the UK contraction. Wholesale Market Services Senior Analyst at EDF UK, James Thornton, wrote a blog for Solar Power Portal last year in which the company’s strategies are described that ensure efficiency and lifespan, available here.
