California-based perovskite technology pioneer Caelux today announced the appointment of Charlie Hasselbrink as the company’s new CTO. This follows the closing of a $12 million Series A3 financing round led by a global investment firm Temasek early this month.
Hasselbrink is an excellent technologist known for identifying organizational and technical gaps and quickly implementing the systems and processes necessary to achieve organizational results. With an excellent track record of managing large-scale development programs, Hasselbrink leverages predictive analytics to accelerate product innovation and increase customer engagement. His visionary leadership transcends technological advancement; it also includes talent development, cultivates a culture of mentorship and maintains robust relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Before Caelux, Hasselbrink held positions at Maxeon Solar, where he led Global Quality, Reliability R&D and Performance R&D; Mainspring Energy as VP Reliability and Quality; and Sila Nanotechnologies as VP and Front-End Technology Development.
Hasselbrink’s expertise will further drive the improvement of the company’s proprietary perovskite technology. Caelux One, which can be seamlessly integrated into existing silicon-based solar module manufacturing processes. The technology is compatible with new silicon solar panels in all locations, creating commercial perovskite-silicon tandem solar modules that improve performance and reduce installed costs, while meeting market demands for sustainability.
“We are pleased to welcome Charlie to the Caelux team; his addition is a strategic move to drive our technological advancements and support our global contingency plans,” said Scott Graybeal, CEO of Caelux.
“His innovative thinking, broad experience and deep technology insights align with our mission and will undoubtedly play an important role in advancing our vision.”
Hasselbrink’s key responsibilities also include driving strategy and governance within technology and developing the strategy and investment roadmaps.
In addition, he will also focus on the continued development of Caelux’s global research, development and engineering organizations, and on building strong relationships with investment partners and customers.
