Array technologiesa provider of utility-scale solar trackers, has launched SkyLinka wireless solar tracker system that builds on the capabilities of the company’s DuraTrack and OmniTrack tracker lines.
Array DuraTrack and OmniTrack with SkyLink support come with new features including an eight-coupled row architecture with passive wind mitigation, brushless DC motors with PV strings, Zigbee wireless communications and a range of SmarTrack features.
“Array is committed to continuously improving our products to support customers by reducing costs and installation times and meeting the growing challenges of extreme weather events,” said Kevin G. Hostetler, CEO of Array Technologies. “As devastating storms become more common, our new SkyLink tracker system, with its reliable wireless communications, ensures solar energy production remains uninterrupted during grid disruptions and inclement weather. This advanced system provides the protection needed to maintain solar energy production, especially in regions prone to snow and hail, and ultimately supports the broader adoption of sustainable energy solutions.”
PV powers the control system for solar tracker movement, regardless of network status, to ensure trackers are stowed upon hail or snow accumulations detected by SmarTrack Automated Snow Response and Hail Alert Response, without relying on batteries that operate in low temperatures and extreme weather conditions. This is combined with Array’s patented passive windstow technology.
DC motor and wireless communication are included to reduce trenching, wiring and electrical supply. SkyLink can be installed with commonly used tools. The system is designed to minimize row-to-row shading using SmarTrack backtracking to achieve better yields in locations with hills or valleys. SkyLink uses an eight-linked row architecture to simplify layout for fragmented sites.
