Indian PV manufacturer Adani Solar, part of industrial conglomerate Adani Group, will reach integrated solar cell and module manufacturing capacity of 10 GW by mid-2026, ahead of its previous target of 2027, said Rahul Bhutiani, senior vice president-head sales & marketing at Adani Solar, narrated pv magazine on the first day of Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2024 in Greater Noida.
Bhutiani said Adani Solar will achieve 10 GW of metallurgical grade (MG) silica-polysilicon ingot wafer capacity by December 2027. It will also expand its production of supporting units for solar glass, aluminum frames, encapsulants and backsheets to 10 GW by December 2027. The company already has a capacity of 2 GW ingot wafers.
Bhutiani said all their new cell capacity will be based on TOPCon technology.
Adani Solar currently has 4 GW of solar cell and module capacity, of which 2 GW each for mono PERC and TOPCon. Production is running at full capacity and meets the 50:50 demand from domestic and export markets.
At REI Expo 2024, Adani Solar unveiled its Shine series of n-type double-glazed TOPCon modules based on rectangular wafers. The modules are built on the rectangular wafer format of 210 mm x 182 mm. These have an efficiency of 23% and a peak power of 620 W. The modules have been qualified according to extensive stress tests according to IEC TS 63209-12021 and are qualified for a hail test. The bifaciality factor is up to 85%.
The company will begin offering rectangular wafer-based TOPCon modules by April 2025. It has already booked orders for these modules and the modules are currently undergoing a certification process.
