Italian engineering firm Comal SpA plans to build a 500 MW solar panel assembly plant in Bazzano, in the central province of L’Aquila, Italy.
The company has acquired an industrial building for the €16 million ($17.3 million) project. Production is expected to start in 2025, with the factory producing ‘innovative and highly efficient’ products.
The plan is partly financed with money from Next Appennino | from the Abruzzo Misura region B1.2 – B3.3 incentive program and partly by the Italian lender Mediocredito Centrale. Comal did not reveal any further details.
Comal plans a solar tracker production facility in Montalto di Castro, Viterbo, where its headquarters are located. The new ‘Tracker Sun Hunter’ factory will occupy over 30,000 square meters at the Montalto di Castro power station, which is owned by Enel and no longer used for electricity generation.
