Solar Group Buys are programs that encourage a community to install solar energy within a certain time frame in order to get a lower price for their solar installation. Group solar purchasing programs have the added benefit of directing companies to high-quality, vetted solar installation companies.
MadiZON, the solar group purchasing program for the city of Madison, Wisconsin, is a good example. MadiSUN is run in collaboration with RENEW Wisconsina nonprofit organization that advocates for clean energy solutions in the state.
“Through the MadiSUN Group Buy Program, we are empowering homeowners to make informed decisions and embrace solar energy with confidence,” said Lauren Cohen, RENEW Wisconsin program manager. “Together we will reduce costs, ensure quality and foster a better future for Madison.”
Solar group purchasing process
RENEW Wisconsin recently issued an RFP for group solar rates for 2024. Solar installers applied and a volunteer committee reviewed their bids and selected five solar companies to serve the 2024 MAdiSUN group purchasing participants.
Installers are thoroughly vetted so homeowners can choose a solar panel installer with confidence. While the program has few restrictions, project installations must be completed by January 31, 2025, but with uncertain winter weather, it’s best to act quickly.
All energy solar energy is one such installer that stood out. All Energy Solar has been providing solar energy solutions to Wisconsin residents since 2009. When the opportunity arose to become an installer for the 2024 MadiSUN group purchasing program, the company was eager to apply.
“We appreciate what is accomplished with this group purchase,” said Ryan Buege, VP of Sales and Marketing for All Energy Solar. “Without MadiSUN, many homeowners would not have all the resources or information needed to switch to solar.”
With many other solar companies to choose from, All Energy Solar highlighted their expertise in residential solar projects to earn a spot as a preferred installer for the MadiSUN program. On the homeowners’ side, since there are a large number of people using solar energy in the area, it is best to act as early as possible to ensure that all projects are completed on time to meet this deadline .
