Solarbank has announced that it cooperates with Viridi, producer of Fail-Safe Battery energy storage systems (BESS), in the development of a combined 3.06 MWDC Ground-Mount Community Solar Project and 1.2 MWH Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Buffalo, New York. The project is being built on a closed landfill and transforms more unusable country into a productive active that generates clean energy for the community. Solarbank will have the project, while Virdi delivers the Bess system.
Viridi’s lithium-ion battery packages have integrated fire reduction and anti-propagation technology that meet strict safety standards. In contrast to conventional approaches that change battery cells, Viridi insulates any cell to prevent thermal runner, so that a single malfunction does not escalate.
The company has won a lease agreement on the project site and has requested an interconnection approval for the project.
