Freyr -battery announced that it will rebrand if T1 Energy. The former Norwegian company that focuses on the development of lithium batteries is now an American manufacturer of solar panel with battery ambitions.
“The rebirth of our company such as T1 Energy is about American energy, jobs and advanced production. The US needs domestic supply chains and production capacity to use its abundant sun sources. T1 is dedicated to build that capacity, “said Daniel Barcelo, chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO. “More than 80% of the new American electricity capacity in 2024 was solar and batteries. T1 is planning to lead on the solar and battery markets by making the growth of the energy supply possible to support AI, data centers, reshoring and electrification – to restore American industrial capacity and leadership in future advanced industries. “
The T1 Energy head office will be in Austin, Texas. The company has a 5-GW solar panel assembly facility in Wilmer, Texas, which uses Trina Solar Technology. T1 has renamed the Wilmer factory ‘G1 Dallas’.
T1 is shop sites for an outfit of silicon cells, which is called ‘G2’. The company expects to choose a site in Q1 with the start of construction that is aimed at the middle of the year 2025.
After running to the production of the solar panel and buying Trina’s Texas Panel Assembly Facility in November 2024 for $ 340 million, T1 has canceled its lithium battery production plans in Canceria. T1 could not find financial support for the proposed battery location of $ 1.7 billion and sold the country earlier this month for a reported $ 50 million.
