‘It doesn’t do it alone [the solar manufacturing facility] Showcase innovative technology, but it also plays a crucial role in community development by creating opportunities for work, with 80% of the workforce consisting of women, ”said Praveer Sinha, CEO and director of Tata Power.
The solar cells and modules produced in the Tamil Nadu facility will initially serve the current projects of the company, which strengthens the supply chain. Tata Power said it is also planning to explore opportunities for wider market distribution.
In addition to the Tirunelveli factory, Tata Power has a production facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, founded in 1992. The facility has a production capacity of 682 MW for solar modules and 530 MW for solar cells.
