EPC Solaire, a Lyon-based mounting systems supplier, has launched a new solution for commercial and industrial flat roof PV systems under renovation.
The system, developed in collaboration with French roofing specialist Sika and insulation material supplier Recticel, is designed for the installation of PV arrays on ribbed sheet steel roofs.
“The continuity of our customers’ activities is our priority,” said Ferrer Payen, Managing Director of EPC Solaire. “We have designed a solution that retains the existing ribbed sheet metal roof covering, avoiding roof exposure and loss of business. It combines a complete renovation of the waterproofing, the installation of class C insulation and the installation of solar panels.”
The mounting system, made entirely of aluminum from France, preserves the integrity of existing elements and does not require any structural changes for the installation of solar panels. It replaces traditional insulation and waterproofing materials, such as rock wool or bitumen (20 kg/m2), with a lightweight alternative (8 kg/m2), allowing solar panels to be attached without risk of structural damage, the company said.
The integrated rails distribute the downward loads evenly over the surface, preventing local excess weight or damage. Heat welding ensures that the waterproofing membrane remains intact, maintaining the 10-year warranty.
The iNovaR solution offers a thermal resistance of R=4.5 m2K/W and a watertightness designed to last 25 years.
