Eskom has one tender for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to oversee a planned solar PV project with a capacity of up to 72 MW on Komati power station.
The South African utility owns the Komati power plant, located near Middelburg and Bethel. The EPC contractor will research, design, produce, procure and supply all materials and labor for the solar project that Eskom is planning. The development will take place over four contiguous plots, all in close proximity to each other.
The contractor is expected to provide detailed documentation of design drawings to Eskom, as well as maintenance manuals and instructions for a single-axis solar tracker system. This includes an 18-month operation and maintenance service and network integration equipment.
The deadline for contractors to register is February 13.
Eskom will not accept applications after 10am South African Standard Time, which is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. All tender documents are available at the utility company website.
Komati has nine production units with a total installed capacity of 1 GW and a transmitted capacity of 961 MW.
When the plant first came into operation in the 1960s, its capacity was more than twice that of any other South African power station.
