Italian grid operator Terna, in its monthly magazine Electricity demand update for November 2024, it showed that the country added 1.74 GW of energy storage systems between January 1 and October 31, 2024.
Terna published storage system data for the first time, reporting that Italy had approximately 707,000 installations at the end of October, equivalent to 11,783 MWh of capacity and 5,186 MW of nominal capacity, of which 864 MW were in the form of utility-scale energy storage sites. .
Amid the rise of storage systems during that period, 616 MW involved high and very high voltage installations.
