Everybody Solar has announced the completion of its largest solar energy installation at the Adventure Science Center, a nonprofit science and technology center in Nashville, Tennessee, that enhances the center’s sustainability efforts and serves as a vital educational tool for the community .
The newly installed 72.32 kW solar panel aligns with Adventure Science Center’s mission to open every mind to the wonders of science and technology, promoting a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
“We are thrilled to partner with Adventure Science Center on this impactful project,” said Myriam Scally, Executive Director of Everybody Solar. “This installation not only reduces operational costs, but also provides a powerful educational platform for visitors to learn more about renewable energy. By integrating these solar panels with hands-on exhibitions, we hope to inspire a new generation to embrace sustainable practices.”
The solar project will feature an interactive exhibit showing the layers of a solar panel, allowing guests to experience the technology firsthand. Adventure Science Center plans to develop a comprehensive guest curriculum in addition to the solar installation, further encouraging the adoption of sustainable energy practices in their lives.
“Being able to generate some of our own electricity from a clean, renewable source like solar energy is a big step forward for the science center,” said Dr. Morgan Rehnberg, VP of Exhibitions and Experiences. “We’re excited to give our visitors a glimpse into how this remarkable technology works and help them think about whether it might be right for them.”
Major contributions from All Points North Foundation, Change Happens Foundation, SunPower, RELiON batteries and numerous individual donors have also played a crucial role in making this project a reality.
“This is such a cool project – to give to many generations for years to come so people can come and see how distributed generation works,” said Drew Johnson, director of operations at SunPower Corporation. “And hopefully there will be a whole new generation of young people interested in renewable energy.”
Adventure Science Center continues to provide innovative, dynamic learning experiences through hands-on exhibits, programs and full-dome productions in the state-of-the-art Sudekum Planetarium. The savings generated by the solar installation will allow the Adventure Science Center to allocate resources to capital projects and evolving exhibitions, ensuring an enriching experience for all guests.
